Muscle Atlas– Volume 2 (Trunk-Head & Neck Explained)

Muscle Atlas– Volume 2 (Trunk-Head & Neck Explained)

Dr. Sneh Ranga, Dr. Annu, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Sharma

The study of human anatomy is both a science and an art—an exploration into the architecture of life. Understanding the intricate arrangement of muscles, their attachments, actions, and relationships is essential for grasping the mechanics and harmony of the human body.

After the encouraging response to “Muscle Atlas – Volume 1”, which focused on the upper and lower limbs, Volume 2 (Trunk – Head – Neck Explained) has been developed to continue the journey through the human form. This volume aims to provide students and teachers with a clear, concise, and visually guided understanding of the muscular system of the trunk, head, and neck regions.

Each chapter has been systematically arranged to cover the origin, insertion, nerve supply, action, and applied anatomy of individual muscles. Illustrations, diagrams, and labelled sketches have been included to simplify visualization and make the learning process interactive and efficient.

A unique feature of this atlas is the integration of Ayurvedic anatomical principles of Sharira Rachana with modern anatomical descriptions. This dual approach enriches understanding and highlights the continuity between ancient wisdom and contemporary science.

The preparation of this volume has been a collective effort. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Vinod Ranga, Principal, HOD & Professor, Department of Dravya Guna, Mai Bhago Ayurvedic Medical College, Muktsar, Punjab, for his constant guidance, encouragement, and academic insight throughout this work.

It is our sincere hope that this atlas will serve as a reliable companion for students of Ayurveda, medicine, physiotherapy, and allied sciences—helping them to visualize, comprehend, and appreciate the structural beauty of the human body.

We welcome constructive suggestions and feedback from readers for future editions.
